We can see a big role to play
Medi-Solfen® has the potential to bring rapid, lasting wound pain relief to battlefield and other traumatic wounds, where time is critical and injected local anaesthesia is often impractical; acute wounds, including burns and surgical and traumatic wounds; and chronic wounds such as leg ulcers.
The inclusion of cetrimide in the Medi-Solfen® formulation may provide clinical benefits in provision of antibacterial activity in the wound over and above washing with saline or water prior to wound closure.
Accelerated delivery
Medi-Solfen® is the human formulation of Tri-Solfen®, the established veterinary wound anaesthetic used on more than 220 million animals worldwide.
Part 1 of a two-part Phase 1b/2a study, the first in humans, has been completed, and a randomised, placebo-controlled Part 2 is planned. Medi-Solfen® is not yet approved for human use. The platform has an established record of safety and efficacy in animals.
This robust foundation has accelerated the development of Medi-Solfen®, bringing it closer to becoming a new standard in pain relief and wound healing for human use.
